Preparing and Retaining a High-Quality Teacher Workforce in Texas: The Promise of Teacher Residencies
The Learning Policy Institute (LPI) and Raise Your Hand Texas invite you to a policy briefing on Preparing and Retaining a High-Quality Teacher Workforce in Texas: The Promise of Teacher Residencies. The briefing will take place on February 6, 2025, at Raise Your Hand Texas offices, located at 1005 Congress Avenue, on the 10th floor.
This briefing will share new research from LPI on key features of high-quality teacher residency programs, the implications of Texas’s recent investments in sustaining and scaling paid teacher residencies, and how Texas can continue its momentum in developing a well-qualified teacher workforce.
Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the implementation and perception of teacher residencies across the state, and they will leave with research-based considerations to inform continued statewide efforts to improve access to well-qualified teachers.
Jennifer Bland, senior researcher with the Learning Policy Institute will be presenting the findings of this new research. Followed by a panel discussion with Raise Your Hand Texas and Dr. Josh Jones, director of educator preparation services at Tarleton University, and Dr. Steve Wojcikiewicz, senior researcher and policy advisor with the Learning Policy Institute.
