Thank you to everyone who attended one of our For the Future events!
Raise Your Hand Texas Foundation is excited to present For the Future, a series of candidate forums and town halls leading up to the 2020 primary election. With over 40 events taking place across the state, we hope you’ll be able to find one near you! Every event will also be live streamed, with links accessible from Raise Your Hand’s social media accounts.
These events will focus exclusively on public education issues and on candidates for the Texas Legislature, which plays a huge role in shaping the requirements and resources of every public school in our state. Each one will include a set of statewide questions as well as a set of questions crafted by local stakeholders. We’re pleased that many of these events will be co-sponsored by local organizations who are also non-partisan and committed to strong public schools.
Candidate forums are events for legislative districts with multiple candidates running for the same seat. Even in districts where the primary election is uncontested--for example, where there is only one Republican candidate and only one Democratic candidate — all candidates are invited to participate. Town halls are events for legislative districts with a single candidate running unopposed for that office, and are an opportunity to hear directly from that candidate about their views on state and local public education topics.
At Raise Your Hand Texas Foundation, we believe that every legislative session should be a public education session, and we want every voter to be informed on public education issues.
